Prep at a Glance
Timeline
In early 1959, a small group of Augustans met to discuss
establishing an independent day school. On September 5, 1961, Augusta
Preparatory School opened its doors to a body of thirty-eight students.
Augusta Preparatory Day School was formed in 1988 when the Augusta
Country Day School (kindergarten through fifth grade) and Augusta
Preparatory School (grades 7-12) merged. Prep was founded in 1960 and
Country Day in 1972. The merger created the first co-educational,
non-sectarian school in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) to offer
preschool through twelfth grade.
