The Augusta Preparatory Day School Conservatory Program
Augusta Preparatory Day School was pleased to announce the debut of the
Conservatory Program in January 2008. The Knox Music Suite, an
acoustically-designed facility, boasts four practice rooms and two
classrooms that will accommodate private and group music instruction of
the highest quality for the Augusta area community.
Conservatory Philosophy and Overview
The Augusta Prep Conservatory Program believes that music belongs
to everyone. We eagerly welcome students of all skill levels and ages -
both young and old, accomplished and beginner - to explore, pursue, and
strengthen their musical interests.
The Conservatory Program attracts and utilizes the finest teaching
artists in our local professional music and performing arts community.. The exceptional
faculty recognizes and enjoys the promise of young musicians as well as
guiding the advanced skills of more experienced musicians. Every expert
member in the Conservatory Program has at least an undergraduate degree
in Music or Music Education and teaching experience.

The Conservatory also offers Dance instruction with the same standards of excellence and highly qualified professional teachers.
Conservatory Dance classes:
Creative Movement (Pre-School and Pre-K)
Pre-Ballet (Kindergarten and First Grade)
Classical Ballet (Grades 2 - 4)
Modern Jazz (Grades 5 and up)
Beginning/Intermediate Tap (Grades 2 and up)
We have instituted a new Drama program for ages 5 to 11, introducing students to fundamentals of theater and performing.

Scheduling private lessons with a Conservatory Program teacher
To request a referral for an instructor, contact the conservatory office by phone, (706) 863-6858 x 242. or e-mail, Peter Powlus at:
peter.powlus@augustaprep.org
A referral will be made by e-mail giving the contact information for an instructor.
Call the teacher to discuss what you would like to achieve in the lessons and to coordinate a lesson time.
Once you have established a lesson time with one of the teachers,
complete the registration form and return it to the conservatory office
along with the tuition.
If the teacher is unable to take a new student, or you cannot
find a workable lesson time, please contact the Office to determine
whether another teacher reference is available.
